Creation of New Open Datasets – MoE
Modern society is increasingly dependent on data and information and its correct and timely interpretation. Therefore, it is necessary to ensure the availability of validated data that will enable its comprehensive use and benefit both the public and private actors. Open data has many benefits and is a key tool for supporting research, education and innovation, increasing the transparency of institutions, improving the efficiency of public services and processes and cooperation between different institutions, promoting citizens’ participation in decision-making processes and, by sharing data internationally, enabling cooperation on global challenges such as climate change, public health or social inequalities.
In the environmental field, open data also brings a number of benefits that can have a major impact on the conservation and sustainable development of natural resources. They allow effective monitoring of environmental conditions such as air, water and soil quality and early identification of any changes. Researchers and practitioners can freely access data that will enable them to develop new technologies and approaches to environmental protection. Open data also raises public awareness of environmental issues and enables citizens to take an active role in conservation. Policymakers and regulators can use open data to make informed decisions and develop effective environmental policies and strategies. Businesses can use open data to monitor and reduce the environmental impact of their activities. Data transparency thus promotes a more responsible approach to business and increases public trust. Open environmental data therefore plays a key role in conservation and sustainable development and benefits a wide range of actors.
To support the publication of open data in the Ministry of Environment, CENIA is implementing the project Creation of new open datasets – MoE. The project will ensure the fulfilment of part of the national legal obligations for the publication of data in open data format and the publication of HVDs (High Value Datasets) for the environmental sector and will provide consultancy activities in the implementation of open data principles in individual information systems (AIS/ISVS), within the framework of the provision of open data services.
Subject of the project:
- Methodological support in mapping legal obligations to publish open data.
- Agile analysis of the current state of play and design of processes, procedures, activities and related governance documentation for open data publication.
- Coordination activities in the area of preparation, cataloguing and publishing.
- Ensuring the provision of datasets in OD format.
Project objective:
- To ensure the publication of at least 70 new datasets in NKOD (National Catalogue of Open Data).
Project Duration:
- 1.6.2024 – 31.12.2025
