On Sunday, May 5, the Wings for Life charity run took place all over the world, starting at 13:00 CET, with the participation of the CE-Spaces4All project. Wings for Life is a foundation established for spinal cord injury research. Donations support research projects and clinical trials specifically for this research.
The run is characterized by a specific format in which it is not specified exactly how many kilometers the participant will run. Exactly 30 minutes after the start, a “catch car” comes out onto the track, driving at a very slow pace, and gradually catches up with the runner, thus ending their run. The number of kilometres run thus varies according to the pace of the runner. It does not matter whether the participant is a professional runner or just a walking enthusiast. Anyone can participate in the race and run for those who cannot.
CE-Spaces4All managed to assemble a team of 15 enthusiasts from the Czech Republic, Austria and Croatia who took part in the event and thus represented the whole project. In total, over 260,000 runners took part in the race this year, making it the largest running race in the world. More information about the race can be found here: https://www.wingsforlife.com/. Who will we meet at next year’s Wings for Life 2025?
