In the third part of the series on eco-label holders, we introduce EMBA, spol. s r.o., a traditional Czech producer of environmentally friendly paper products. Its history dates back to 1882 and it has been one of the holders of the Eco-friendly product label since 2003. Since last year, it has also been awarded the EU Ecolabel. Marek Michálko, Managing Director, described to us the principles on which EMBA is based, as well as the motivation for applying for the Ecolabel.
Briefly introduce your company and the certified products.
EMBA is a Czech company with a long tradition and a responsible approach to society and the environment. It produces paperboards for archiving and industrial use, office lever arch files and final cartonboard products for use in offices, archives and packaging industry. Through its environmentally friendly products, it makes a significant contribution to the protection and preservation of the cultural and historical heritage of many countries.
How did you find out about the possibility of obtaining the eco-label?
We have held the Eco-friendly product label since 2003. In 2022, we defended the right to use the Eco-Friendly Product label. We have also recently obtained the EU Ecolabel certification.
What motivated you to obtain the Ecolabel for your products?
Our products are made from recovered paper and are fully recyclable, so by their very nature they meet the conditions for certification. The ecological process and sustainable production are essential and important to us, so we consider it natural to be interested in the ecolabel.
How has this benefited your business?
Getting the eco-label is a “round stamp” on what we do naturally at EMBA.
Do you use the ecolabel as part of your corporate marketing? How?
Yes, we use the ecolabel as part of our corporate marketing. We communicate it on our website, in promotional materials and of course we present it to our customers. We participated in the production of the programme “You cannot replace Czech quality”, which was produced in cooperation with the Ministry of Industry and Trade and CNN Prima News. You can watch the report here. We also promote eco-labelling in projects that EMBA supports or is part of, e.g. Earth Day, etc.
