The Czech Environmental Information Agency, as a partner of a consortium led by the Norwegian Institute for Water Research (NIVA), was successful in a tender for the operation of the European Topic Centre for Biodiversity and Ecosystems (ETC-BE) for the years 2023 to 2026, launched by the European Environment Agency (EEA).
The European Topic Centres (ETCs) are consortia of expert organisations – research, scientific and commercial – from the countries of the European Economic Community that deliver many agendas for the EEA, mainly in the areas of publishing, processing and visualisation of reporting data. By engaging external experts, the EEA ensures knowledge transfer and increases its innovation potential.
CENIA has been a regular participant in the ETC since 2007 and is currently involved in three ETCs (https://www.cenia.cz/projekty/aktualni-projekty/). Between 2007 and 2013, CENIA was the first institution from the new EU Member States to lead an ETC consortium.
